It's common to see references to "wine
culture," the culture that surrounds wine and wine drinking, but it's not
so common to talk about how fundamental wine might be to human culture itself —
and indeed, maybe even to human civilization. Humans have cultivated grapes and
made wine for millennia and it's been argued that humans have evolved
to enjoy alcohol.
Age appears to be best in four things; old wood
best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read.
“I love everything that is old; old friends,
old times, old manners, old books, old wines.”
There are moments, above all on June evenings,
when the lakes that hold our moons are sucked into the earth, and nothing is
left but wine and the touch of a hand.
There are thousands of wines that can take over
our minds. Don't think all ecstasies are the same!”

Madhusala is a
masterpiece with each para special in it’s own way.here are a few which i like
the most.
Madhushaala
(Wine Tavern or a pub) is a poem write
with a lot of analogies. These analogies are sometimes much bigger than you, me
or even life for that matter. There are a lot of great phrases in this
136-phrase long poem. I would try to list down some of the stanzas that depict
these analogies and are not yet mentioned.
This para is one of my favorites...
it explains that live life to the fullest..
Some philosophy of power of
destiny vs determination .
Some secular.. beyond the binds of religion
it cant be relived once you are dead...
how beautifully life and death is being portrayed in the form of liquor..
wonderful...
Madhushala says;
English
Translation:
My beloved! You are my
wine(existence) and I your thirsty tumbler,
Filling yourself within me you yourself become the drinker,
I play with you while you drink me, both brimming with joy,
We both make and complete the Tavern, one within the other.
